Getting Fancy at So Frenchy So Chic 2015

Here at Vicious, we are looking forward to getting super Frenchy and super chic. In 2014, we enjoyed the food and music of France and this year we welcome it back. Presented by Renault, So Frenchy So Chic In The Park returns in 2015, bringing the charm of provincial France and the attitude of Paris to a perfect summer’s day in Melbourne and Sydney. The single day festival is situated just outside of Melbourne, in the stately lawns and gardens of Werribee Park Mansion for the third year in a row (as well as for the first time to Sydney at the beautiful grounds St John’s College in Camperdown).

 So, who’s playing?

Returning to Australian shores for a third time in January, Emilie Simon will be playing. Revered for her charismatic stage presence, Simone’s intricate layering of live vocals and instrumentals with her own unique voice is the reason we’re pretty excited to see her. She’ll hopefully be playing songs from her latest album, Mue. You can have a listen to the single “Menteur” off the album.

We guarantee you won’t be able to take your eyes off her.

Another Frenchy act who has enjoyed regular radio airplay in Australia is The Dø, a French/Finnish duo who first toured here in 2009 with their off-kilter indie sound bewitching everyone at the Australian V Festival. Call it electro-folk or call it avant-pop, The Do will have everyone up and dancing on the grass.

La Femme, with their Californian surf rock and 80s new wave morph into some pretty stellar French pop.

And rounding out the So Frenchy line-up is Francois and Atlas Mountains. They recently stole the show as Franz Ferdinand’s opening act at Somerset House in London and now take centre stage. This group is a favourite of European festivals. We’re pretty excited that we’ll be having a chat with Francois and the Atlas Mountains in the upcoming weeks, so watch. this. space.

“La Vérité” is taken from the fourth album by Francois & the Atlas Mountains, Piano Ombre.

There’s more!

So Frenchy So Chic is known not only for its excellent music line-up but also it’s gourmet hampers and curated picnic boxes. What is Frenchy if you’re not eating and drinking authentic French fare? Take a gander at some of their exquisite packages; we’re talking charcuterie, cheese and champagne, alongside sweets and treats like macarons, eclairs and crepes. Supplied by Bright Young Things, you’ve got until Tuesday 6 January 2015 before hamper pre-orders close.

And what garden party would be complete without champagne? We’ll be enjoying some fine and chilled Laurent Perrier. If that’s not your thing, there will also be French wines, beers and a lovely cocktail bar. We’re talking fancy here.

So, we’ll be there, drinking glasses of champagne and donning diamonds. Why not join us?
