Track Love: Jasia’s Safety

We’ve been listening to this gracious melody Safety by Jasia over the past week. It’s slightly eerie, melancholy yet ultimately uplifting. There’s an undercurrent of guitar parts merged with an edgy electronic mesh. In particular, we’re impressed by the way the vocal fits in effortlessly, with equal focus on the voice and the percussion. It’s definitely a sign of Jasia’s classically trained background, as a vocalist, violinist and guitarist. There is a pervasive Sigur Ros ambiance to the track, a type of callout to innocence. It might not have been effortless, but the synthesised melody is combined perfectly with classical instrumentation to create that soft, sombre and soulful sound.

Born in Jamaica, raised in the US, and now having lived in Australia since the age of 18, Josiah Willows began playing in bands from a young age.

Jasia has also been supporting Airling on their national tour. He will be performing in Melbourne at Grace Darling Hotel on November 8th. Tix are $11.50 + bf – You can buy tickets here.
