LOLAWOLF Releases New Single Ayo

They may be supporting Miley Cyrus on her upcoming Australian Bangerz tour, but that is no reason to detract from paying attention to LOLAWOLF. Headed by the daughter of iconic musician Lenny Kravitz, Zoë Kravitz shines as the frontwoman of the electro/synth/pop outfit.

A trio from New York, Kravitz is joined alongside fellow bandmates Jimmy Giannopoulos and James Levy from Brooklyn band Reputante (whose EP is out on Julian Casablancas’ label, Cult Records).

In general, Kravitz’s vocals are whimsical and beautiful, yet on the particular track AYO there is a distinct correlation between the frontwoman’s sound and that of quintessential electronic/alternative hip hop artists M.I.A. and Santigold.

Their beats are fresh as hell, as are all of the tracks that star on LOLAWOLF‘s debut EP, What Love Is. And if they’re already not kicking enough goals, the New York trio are getting set to release their debut full-length album, Calm Down, which is set to be released on October 10 via Creative Control and Innit Recordings.

Yes, growing up in a privileged house with a musical genius for a father would have definitely helped, but it’s evident that Zoë Kravitz oozes talent on her own.
